WELCOME…

"WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW," THEY SAID. "THE WORDS WILL COME."
I was ten years old and already enthralled with words. But for a long time I didn't know anything. Then one day sixty years worth of long forgotten memories, past experiences, and simple truths began resurfacing, demanding to be set free.   A battered old guitar inspired simple melodies I could put words to. They turned into story songs, but lacked structure and rambled aimlessly. They sucked.  I realized songs and melodies need structure. So I started going to workshops. Small, safe, intimate sanctuaries where you sit in a room for a week listening to respected song writers impart their knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement to those aspiring to write their own truths. Thank you Gretchen Peters, Patty Griffin, Verlon Thompson, Mary Gauthier, Richard Thompson, Beth Nielson Chapman, Darrell Scott, and especially Lydia Hutchinson for her steadfast encouragement and support.
